Björk’s latest dress is made from 25,000 Swarovski crystals
“The Icelandic producer’s latest stage outfit finds her yet again wearing something quite labor-intensive: during her set with experimental artist Klein and Scottish producer Lanark Artefax at Cornwall’s Eden Sessions festival this past weekend, Björk wore a colorful, structured beaded dress over a shiny black bodysuit. The architectural garment, which was created by Romanian fashion designer Lana Dumitru and architect Vlad Tenu (the two collaborate as Foraeva), actually reinterprets a traditional Romanian rug, which the duo digitally reconstructed using more than 25,000 Swarovski crystals. According to their website, which includes detailed 3-D renderings of the gown, it took a team of 15 people nearly six months to assemble it. In truth, it looks almost tailor-made for Björk, given her penchant for dramatic stage garments—clearly time well spent.”
